A Public Market is held every Thursday in the neighbouring village of La Penita, from about 9 or 10 am until about 3 pm. Local Buses are available for transportation from Rincon to the main street of La Penita, cost is about 5 pesos per person and trip takes about 10 - 15 minutes. Drop off and pick-up occurs at the top of the main street of La Penita, just off the highway. Alternatively you could catch a taxi over for between 15 and 20 pesos right to the market entrance. Dress light and with a hat as it get's quite warm, there is next to no breeze in the square. Bring along a sturdy bag to carry all your purchases and practise your Spanish and bargaining skills. Many items can be had for 50 % of asking if you're an experienced bargainer. There's quite a selection of items to be found. Cool down with an ice cream from a bicycle vendor, visit the church and stroll through the produce market just off the square. Check out some of the stores on the way back to the bus stop. Short of money ? Visit the ATM at the Banco on the main street. Enjoy yourselves !
